EYE2018 participant talking in the Hemicycle

Welcome to the European Youth Ideas platform!

Hi there, welcome to the European Youth Ideas platform.

We are the Youth Outreach Unit of the European Parliament and we want to make it easier for you to participate actively in European democratic life. That’s why we built this website! First launched for European Youth Event 2018, this is an online platform where you can outline your own ideas on the issues that Europe is facing today and your ideas for the Europe of tomorrow.

You are invited to share ideas on specific topics and questions, related to Parliament’s initiatives for youth. For example, you have an idea on what the EU’s role should be regarding artificial intelligence? Write it down! Or might know how to tackle income inequality? Tell us about it!

Once your idea gets published on the website, other users can like it and comment on it, which might result in a lively exchange that will help you adapt, shape, and define your ideas further. We’ve also got you covered if you want to read up on a topic before you get going: most questions include links to background information provided by the European Parliamentary Research Service. And, if you think we’re missing a really important issue that you and all your friends are talking about, don’t hesitate to suggest a question!

But wait, what happens after you’ve shared your ideas? We won’t let them fade away into the background noise of the internet! Your ideas are used to enrich the programme of the biennial European Youth Event (EYE), and are also an inspiration and input for other youth initiatives of the European Parliament. Moreover, we will forward the most concrete ideas to the Members of the European Parliament and other policy-makers, inviting them to join the debate right here.

On this blog, we’ll share with you some nifty tips and tricks to get the best out of this website, inform you about upcoming events (including EYE), as well as publish articles that shed some light on the subject areas covered by the questions. Check back soon!

What do you think?

By submitting this form, you accept the European Youth Ideas Moderation and Privacy policy.

On essaie changer le monde! Since responsibility for health assurance is limited at national level, incorrect public health decisions which can be taken individually by Member States may have adverse effects on all European citizens. Many EU Member States are unable to implement inclusive education for children with disabilities as regulated by the EU due to a lack of the money required and state organisation. Seems great idea but I believe that it will not work. When anyone can make a blog and spread fake news in less than 1 minute, it's so difficult to count all of these websites and to give punishments.

Do not forget all of these new technologies like VPN or Tor browser on which you can protect your identity so it will be more difficult for the authorities to do their job.

The fear of being banned I believe that also it doesn't work. These people who spread like news they believe that we receiving attacks because they are telling the truth that it shouldn't be heard. It's like giving them a fair point that they don't lie.

So, I totally disagree with ban from social media platforms. Everyone should have the freedom to say whatever they want(only if their opinions its not harmful for the others, like hate speech, promoting violence, nudity, bullying).

We should let the others understand that they are spreading fake news by providing the truth. If they don't want to listen the truth, means that we have problem with the democracy, with the media and the politicians/authorities which people don't trust anymore.

Right to Repair! With modern technology, our more advanced cars and devices should be lasting longer but they aren't. We need strict penalties for manufacturers of mainstream smartphones like Apple and Samsung to make their phones more repair friendly or at least have a user replaceable battery.

Why did we use our old Nokia's for years but the modern smartphone runs out of juice every couple of years? What about the slave labour that Apple and other companies have been using? We need to source both ethical and repair friendly products because let us not forget that even a used internal combustion vehicle that we already have is better to the earth than buying a new electric vehicle. Let us ask for longer product life cycle. The age old adage that things in the good old days lasted longer has some truth to it!

We need to fight fascism, the whole world is increasingly enveloped with right wing governments. Let us say Never Again to hatred, discrimination, holocaust denial, Islamophobia, flatearthers, anti vaxxers. From India to Brazil, toxic society and people believing in pseudoscience, we should control this through education. There should be freedom of speech but not when it is pseudosciences like anti-vaxxers which America exports here.

What you really need to do to adress the spread of misinformation is make it illegal. Fine websites and journals that spread misinformation and you'll make it dissapear like a puff of smoke.
For social media, you'd have to force the platforms to punish people who spread misinformation with
an increasing degree of punishment. The 50th offense could mean a permanent ban from the platform. The companies would be forced to develop alrogrithms or use humans for the process at first. The algorithms would have to be checked by the Union and given the okay before being used due to concern of abuse or cencorship.

I have a lot of ideas, but we need to think about a better future in Europe. 1 idea: Healthcare should be made above all, the system should be the same everywhere, when health insurance is paid, they should go to a card, with which when you go to a pharmacy or health institution to pay with it. There is no such card in Bulgaria, you pay insurance and when you go to the doctor you pay again in cash, in the pharmacy you pay again in cash, in a health institution you pay again. Idea 2: Everywhere in Europe the minimum wage should be the same, in Bulgaria the minimum wage is 325 euros.
Idea 3: On a global scale, we need to think about how to protect nature, plant more trees, etc.
Idea 4: In order to limit the Coronavirus, things are simple, everywhere in every country in Europe when entering the border (land, air) to do an antigen test and when entering the country to show a negative AKP test. When this is done, most businesses in Europe can open. It must be uniform everywhere.
Idea 5: One should think that one day the health care system can work for people, not for money. To think about how everyone can get medical help without paying thousands of euros for surgery, because when they have them, people will be able to work, when they are sick they cannot work. Health must be above everything, if a person is healthy he can do everything, if he is not healthy he will do something difficult.
I can give thousands of ideas on how to make the world better, to make people better as long as you have the desire.
Greetings

Stop industries from leaving EU. At least in Galicia (Spain) is impossible to compete against the asian market and therefore local quality labour is dissapearing. I dont want to leave my family, my friends and my country in search for a job. Without strong local communities and markets our countries lose their meaning and the alienation of the working classes increases. We need to stop this with state intervention on the market. Socialize enterprises and secure at least the minimal means of production to maintain local communities.

1)Technology can cooperate with psychology in order to explain how criminals think so as to prevent future crimes. (Ex. pedophiles)

2) With artificial intelligence and technological equipment, we will be able to “work” with convicted criminals in methods that do not violate human rights.

3)convicted criminals could intergate into society using technology.Socializing with citizens, under supervision of course, could help them become usefull part of the society again

How about we stop flooding our content with migrants and refugees and who care not four our values, culture or traditions, rape our women in the masses and segregate themselves from native Europeans completely. You always point to the economic benefits of migrants but there are none. When we have an average unemployment of 16% and you flood us with more, don’t act surprised when we turn to nationalist populists. We don’t get anywhere near enough financial support to have children, and you use low birth rates as an excuse for migration. When countries like hungary do offer incentives to have kids, you demonise them for it. This Union doesn’t work for Europeans anymore, it works for businessmen, bureaucrats and foreigners.
You will likely dismiss my point as ‘racist’ because not wanting migrants automatically equates you to hitler now but if there’s anything to take away from my suggestion - give financial support and incentives for us to have children, and stop giving funding to countries to take migrants and instead offer it in grants per child.

Fake news are spreading like wildfire on the internet.
However, we give too much care about fighting fake news instead of preventing being published fake news. A good example can be the fact checkers.

What I propose is to build a website where everyone can submit their news and only if they have evidence and being checked by independent journalists to be published.

Britain's skepticism of the European Union has led to Brexit. This could deprive the European Union of some economic and political resources that could have contributed to the qualitative increase of the whole European community. Furthermore, as we know, Brexit will involve the removal of the United kingdom from Erasmus programs with consequent loss of cultural exchange opportunities for us young people.

As the leaders and decision makers of tomorrow, I think youth thought should be heard by the institions from now.
